RealSimGear Legacy G1000 units consist of three generations of device: Gen 1, Gen 2 and now Gen 3. Gen 1 units have 2xUSB ports each, Gen 2 and 3 units have 1xUSB port each. Please make note throughout the instructions as to which generation you have.

Package Inclusions

The Generation 1-3 original G1000 Suite package included the following components.

  • One: Primary Function Display (PFD)

  • One: Multi-Function Display (MFD)

  • One: Audio Panel

  • One: PFD to Audio panel ribbon cable

  • Two: 12v DC Power Packs (North America plug type)

  • Two: HDMI right angle adapters

  • Gen 1 - Four: USB Type A to Type B Cables

  • Gen 2 or 3 - Two: USB Type A to Type B Cables

The PFD and MFD are essentially the same however they have each been loaded and pre-set with their own firmware so that they control the correct module in X-Plane.

Note: To determine which unit you have, please refer to the shipping box, each box should be labelled as either a PFD or MFD. Make note of which unit is which for instructions below.

Mounting Instructions

The RealSimGear G1000 XFD's and G1000 Suite can be mounted in a number of ways:

Assembling the G1000 Suite into the Desktop Stand

To assemble the stand, position the audio panel bracket between the two PFD/MFD brackets, then add the mounting screws after the PFD/MFD module is installed.

Next, install the Audio Panel. Remove the mounting brackets, insert into the Audio Panel cut out then replace the brackets. Adjust the provided screws to tighten in place.

Connect the cables

Connect the cables in the following order:

USB A to USB B: Connect the square Type B connector to the back of the G1000 XFD and GMA Audio Panel (if included) Plug the rectangular Type A connector to an available USB port on your PC or powered USB hub.

Note: Please do not plug the USB cables into an unpowered USB hub as this will cause connection issues between the device and the PC.

Gen 1 units - There are x2 USB cables for each of the PFD and MFD.
Gen 2 or 3 units - There is x1 USB cables for each of the PFD and MFD.

HDMI: You will need to supply two HDMI cables (not included with the G1000 XFD displays) to connect from the G1000XFD's to your PC's graphics card or RealSimGear USB3 to Dual HDMI Adapter.

If you are connecting directly to the graphics card, it is acceptable to use a good quality DisplayPort to HDMI cable.

Ribbon Cable: Connect the short ribbon cable between the audio panel and the PFD (not the MFD). The access hole on the back side of the PFD can be a bit tight, its best to try to bend the ribbon cable 90 degrees at the connector to facilitate getting the connection to the PFD.
Note: Photos below are showing Gen 1 units, Gen 2 and 3 units simply have a single USB plug.

12 Volt DC Power: Plug the barrel connector into the G1000 XFD unit, then plug the adapter into an available wall outlet.

For international customers: you can use an outlet adapter to adapt the North American plug style to your local plug style. Additionally you can also purchase a dedicated DC adapter to your plug style from a local electronics retailer.

Note: Photos below are showing Gen 1 units, Gen 2 and 3 units simply have a single USB plug.
