As RealSimGear continues to roll out updates to our hardware, a number of devices now have backlit buttons and/or text. This article explains how to adjust the backlighting level of each.

By default, the backlight is turned on at 100% when you connect it to your PC and/or activate the Plugin/Add-on. *Note, these will not turn off as long as the USB port is powered. To completely turn off any RealSimGear unit, disconnect the USB cable and/or make sure your PC power switch or powered USB hub is off. You will need to set the custom level each time you connect or start up things as the set level is not persisted across reboots of the panels.

To adjust the backlight level when in use:

G1000XFD

  1. Press in on the COM VOL knob which will put the G1000 into backlight adjust mode. Backlights may either go completely off, or to 1/2 brightness.

  2. Turn the COM VOL knob up/down to adjust the brightness as desired (from completely off to 100%)

  3. Press in on the COM VOL again (or just let it be for 10 seconds) and the knob will revert back to standard COM VOL mode again.

G1000GMA

  1. Press in on the PILOT knob which will put the G1000GMA into backlight adjust mode. Backlights may either go completely off, or to 1/2 brightness and the PILOT and COPLT status LED's will go on.

  2. Turn the PILOT knob up/down to adjust the brightness as desired (from completely off to 100%)
